The first series in the Classic Pens CP Collection was launched in 1990. It established a fruitful cooperation between Classic Pens, Sheaffer and Murelli R S.A.R.L.  The model selected for CP1 was the Targa by Sheaffer. The stylish Targa by Sheaffer, launched in 1976 is regarded as a modern classic.

The CP1 Targa is fully covered in sterling silver. It was offered in a single world wide edition of 250 pens in the rich Vannerie ( Basketweave) pattern. This pattern is exclusive to Classic Pens for the Targa in sterling silver. The pens are laser engraved on the cap ornament with the CP1 logo and the individual limited edition number. The cap band is engraved with the manufacturer's name, Sheaffer, and the pens carry the London Assay Office sterling silver mark.

The CP1 series is official and carries the Sheaffer Lifetime Warranty and after sales service. A certificate of authenticity signed by Andreas Lambrou accompanies each pen.

The pens are housed in quality hand made gift boxes specifically designed for the CP1 series.

.
Before production of the CP1 began prototype pens were made to decide upon the size of the laser etching on the pen ornament .These pens had the same numbering as the production models, the size of the etching was larger and the cap and barrel have no hallmarkings.
